Fitness and Fun on a 10ft Trampoline!

Jumping on a trampoline isn’t just fun; it is also a good way of expending energy. Trampoline jumping can be an excellent form of aerobic workout, especially for kids – it is such an enjoyable activity that they will not realize they are in fact getting a workout from it.

Trampoline Safety Rules

While a trampoline at Jumpster can be a lot of fun there are certain safety measures that need to be kept in mind when installing one at home.

An appropriate space envelope is the first aspect that needs to be considered before bringing home a trampoline. Whether you want to place it indoor or outdoor, take into account the space available. You will need to keep extra space all around the trampoline for safety, and enough head room for a sprightly jump.

Not all trampolines are built the same – different models come in varying sizes and weight limits. Although a small trampoline may look nice, you must consider buying a trampoline designed for heavier weights, so your kids can use it over the years, as they are growing up.

Larger trampolines are more fun and can last longer, but they also pose more risk of injury; so buying one with an enclosure can be a wise decision. The netting around the trampoline acts as a protective cage and prevents mishaps. Smaller versions with protective enclosures are also available and quite practical, especially if your kids are still young.

Young kids should never be left unsupervised on the trampoline, and it is in their best interest to have only one child on the trampoline, at any given time. If two or more kids are on the bouncing mat the chances of them banging into each other and getting hurt are always high.

Adding a protective cover over the springs can further lessen the risk of injuries.

Picking a proper location to place the trampoline is imperative too. Place it away from over hanging branches and protruding beams and pipes, and walls. Make sure that the surrounding area is clear and there are no sharp or dangerous objects lying around.

Last, but not the least, it is always better to buy a sturdy unit, even if it costs more, and set it up properly, following the aforementioned safety guidelines.

The Right Way to Jump on the Trampoline

Like every other sport and fun activity, there is a correct method for using the trampoline. Bear in mind that jumping on the trampoline is not just fun, it is a strenuous activity as well. In trying to maintain balance, the arms, legs and the core get a good workout. Jumping on the bouncing mat increases the heart rate and breathing. This is especially healthy for kids, who do not get any other form of physical exercise.

The right technique is to begin with small jumps and gradually increase the pace. Doing so ensures the body gets warmed up, and the muscles prepare for the flexing and stretching that will follow. Warming up routines decrease the chance of injuries and a proper warm up ensures the ankles; knees and the rest of the joints do not get overly strained, during active jumping. A cooling down process must also be followed after each session on the trampoline.

Kids should be forbidden from clowning around while on the bouncing mat, as it can lead to accidents. Children can also become exceedingly enthusiastic when jumping on the mat and lose balance and hurt themselves. An adult should teach them how to maintain a bounce rate where they are in control.

Trampoline and Weight Loss

Overweight and obese kids can benefit from the trampoline as it works as an excellent weight loss tool. Jumping up and down on the trampoline is similar to a cardiovascular workout. It boosts the functioning of the heart, by raising the pulse rate. This in turn increases the blood flow, since the accelerated heart rate prompts the pumping of blood at a faster pace. With more blood blowing through the veins there is an increase in the quality and quantity of oxygen reaching the organs. This is good for health!

Cardio workouts are the best form of exercise for burning stored fat. The faster the heart beats the more effective the weight loss will be.

Introduce your kids to the 10ft trampoline if you want them to lose weight and live a healthy life.
